Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 11, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information TechTutorIn ("we", "us") collects when you use techtutorin.com and our student and tutor applications, how we use it, and the choices you have. We collect only what we need to run the service.
1. Information We Collect
- Account details: name, email address, and password (stored only as a secure hash — we cannot see your password), your role (student/tutor), and optional profile details such as an avatar or tutor qualifications.
- Content you upload: questions, descriptions, chat messages, and files/images you attach (e.g. a photo of a problem).
- Payment information: payments are processed by our payment gateway partner (e.g. Razorpay). We receive transaction identifiers, amount, and status. We never receive or store your card number, UPI PIN, or banking credentials.
- Technical data: basic logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps) used for security, rate limiting, and debugging.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To operate the platform: matching questions to tutors, delivering answers, enabling chat, and processing payments and refunds.
- To send transactional emails — welcome, email verification, password reset, and important account or payment notifications. We do not sell your data or send third-party marketing.
- To keep the platform safe: preventing fraud, abuse, and unauthorised access.
3. Who Can See Your Content
- Your question and attached files are visible to the tutor assigned to it and to our admin team.
- Solved answers may appear in the Browse Library for other students, without exposing your personal identity.
- Answer files are stored privately and served through authenticated, short-lived links — only users entitled to a file (e.g. the paying student) can access it.
4. Service Providers We Rely On
We use trusted third-party providers to run TechTutorIn, each receiving only the data needed for their function: payment processing (Razorpay), file storage and delivery (ImageKit), database hosting (MongoDB Atlas), application hosting (Render, Vercel), and transactional email delivery (Brevo). These providers process data under their own security and privacy safeguards.
5. Cookies & Local Storage
We use browser local storage to keep you signed in (an authentication token) and remember basic preferences. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
We retain account and transaction data while your account is active and as required for legal, tax, and accounting purposes. You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us; payment records may be retained where law requires.
7. Security
We use HTTPS everywhere, hashed passwords, token-based authentication, role-based access controls, and signed URLs for private files. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will notify affected users of any significant breach as required by law.
8. Children
Our service supports students working on Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, MATLAB, and Computer Science programming problems. Some users may be under 18. Users under 18 should use the platform with parental or guardian consent. We do not knowingly collect more personal data from minors than needed to provide the service.
9. Your Rights
You may access and update your profile information from your account page, and may request a copy or deletion of your personal data by contacting us. We comply with applicable Indian data protection law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date.
